Avoid Macox Plus Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer. MODE OF ACTION: It is a combination of two antibiotics: Rifampicin and Isoniazid, which treats tuberculosis (TB). Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Isoniazid prevents these bacteria from forming their own protective covering. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection. WARNING:

Macox Plus Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Macox Plus Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation SAFE
Macox Plus Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
DrivingDo not drive unless you are feeling well.
Macox Plus Tablet can cause fits, mental health problems and optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve that may cause loss of vision.) This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney CAUTION
Macox Plus Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Macox Plus Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver CAUTION
Macox Plus Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Macox Plus Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Macox PlusTablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. EXPERT ADVICE:
You have been prescribed Macox Plus Tablet for the treatment of tuberculosis.
Finish the full course of the medication, even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back.
Take it on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time everyday.
It may discolour your urine, sweat, saliva and tears a reddish-orange colour. This is normal and not harmful.
Your doctor may check your liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Macox Plus Tablet as this may increase the risk of side effects on the liver.
Use an alternative or additional contraceptive method (such as condoms or a diaphragm) to prevent pregnancy while you are taking Macox Plus Tablet as it may make hormonal contraceptives such as the pill less effective.
Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids) within at least two hours of taking Macox Plus Tablet.
